Blurred Lines by Jen McLauhglin Blog Tour

BlurredLines

Synopsis

Once burned…

Finding my fiancée naked on my couch might’ve been a good thing, if her ex-boyfriend hadn’t been with her. For the past eight years I’ve been a witness to the power of true love, but after getting burned I’d decided there wasn’t any hope for me finding it for myself. Until I met Noelle Brandt in a hotel bar. Maybe it wasn’t the most romantic meeting, but the moment I met her I knew I had to have her. The more I learn about her, the more I know I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her.

Twice shy…

I’d already found the love of my life, but I’d lost that love forever. And I’d been lost ever since. But one night a wounded man makes all of that go away. He makes me laugh, live, and feel alive. When he tells me he has no intention of letting me go, I finally begin to believe in the power of true love again. That is, until I find out who he really is…and by then, it’s far too late to correct the mistakes we’ve already made. By the time we both know the truth, the lines have already been blurred beyond recognition.

She blinked up at me, her hazel eyes startlingly clear in a world where all the lines were blurred. “I am too.”
We stood there, her with her hands on my shoulders, me with my hand on her cheek, and neither one of us moved. “Noelle...”
“Right.” Shaking her head, she laughed uneasily and removed her hands. She wasn’t done, though. She undid my buttoned collar. “Don’t worry, I’m not taking advantage of you. I’m just getting you comfortable so you can sleep.”
“If anyone took advantage of the situation, it would be me.” I caught her hand. “I’m drunk, and I’m a hot mess, but I don’t want you to get the wrong idea about me. I’m not a guy who accepts an act of kindness and then repays it by being a stereotypical jerk.”
She blinked. “Who said you were? You’ve shown no inclination to take advantage of me in any way, shape, or form. I don’t blame you for not being interested. You just broke up with your fiancée and you’re, well—” She gestured at my stomach. “You’re hot. You could have your pick of anyone, so I’d hardly expect you to be falling all over me. I’m extraordinarily ordinary.”
I had a hard time keeping up with her fast flow of words in my current state, but I was fairly certain that she’d just put herself down. Insinuated I couldn’t possibly be interested in her for her physical attributes. For some reason, that irritated me.
More than my fiancée screwing some other dude on my couch did.
“You’re wrong.” I still hadn’t lowered my hand from her cheek— which would have probably been a hell of a lot more awkward if I was sober—so I ran my thumb over her sharp cheekbones. She had the cheekbones of a Greek goddess. “If sober and not dependent on your kindness, I’d be kissing you right now.”
She undid another button. “Is that so?”
Something about the way she said it made me think she didn’t believe I wanted her, which was ludicrous. The woman was gorgeous, but something told me she’d been single since her husband died. She needed someone in her life who could show her how beautiful she was. It made me wonder if she was going to wither up and die alone, or if she’d let herself love again.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” she whispered, her hands still on my third button.
“Because you’re beautiful,” I said in reply, keeping my voice low. “And I like looking at beautiful things. What else is life for, if not that?”
