Kim's Review
4 Stars!

Riley Parks hasn’t had an easy life.  After a disastrous time on the reality TV show Chart Toppers when she was thirteen years old, Riley has worked hard to put it behind her.  She was lucky with the connection she made on the show to get a job at a local recording studio right out of high school. Riley is a strong-willed determine young woman who has a crappy mother that dumps on her. She is always there for her brother and sister but at the expense of herself and her job.

Garrett Jamieson was a part of the band called Jamieson when his two brothers decided to go their separate ways.  This didn’t sit well with him and he’s left wondering what he can do now that the band isn’t his life.  His dad helps him get a position at a recording studio the band use to record in. Garrett is looking to become a music producer but has no one to work with yet.  When he meets the stubborn, yet gifted Riley Parks, he finds what he’s been looking for, a young talent person who needs help breaking into the industry.  Garrett comes off as an arrogant, self-center jerk at first but when you get to know him, you see it’s a defense mechanism he’s use to using against people who are trying to use him.

This is the third book of the Jamieson Brother’s trilogy and the first book I’ve read by Angie Stanton. I was gifted this book in exchanged for an honest review and I love how Riley may only be eighteen but she’s aged far beyond her years.  Having a crappy mother and being to help raise her sibling has made her a little rough around the edges.  When Riley meets Garrett for the first time, she instantly dislikes him but anyone would when the newbie comes in and gets you kicked out of you one chance to prove yourself.  Of course Garrett remains clueless of this fact.  When he finds out what an amazing singer Riley is he tries to find a way to get her to record with him.  This proves to be a challenge as she hates him and he’s not sure why.
The love hate relationship between these two is entertaining at times.  Garret has no clue what’s he’s done to piss Riley off but when he approaches her to record with him he can’t understand her decision why she won’t agree to record.  Once things get worked out for the time being they both see a side of each other that they’ve never seen before. Things between these two explode leaving you wondering how they kept it up so long.  They have chemistry but the lack of trust both have because of the life they have lead leaves them fighting for things that shouldn’t be so hard.
Angie Stanton is a great writer and I really like this book, however I do wish the story was just a bit longer, as I didn’t feel the story was over just yet.  To me it kind of ended abruptly.  Situations that happened within the book were settled a little too fast for it to be real.  If the book was a chapter or two longer and had the characters deal with the events that happened in a bit more detail it would have ended the series better in my opinion.  This trilogy is a calmer side of the rock star’s life and I would recommend this to my fellow readers.

Angie Stanton never planned on writing books—she wanted to be a Rockette. However, growing up in rural America with her brothers’ 4-H pigs as pets, she found that dance didn’t quite work out. Instead, she became an avid daydreamer. After years of perfecting stories in her head, she began to write them down, and the rest is history. When not writing, she loves watching natural disaster movies, going to Broadway musicals, and dipping French fries in chocolate shakes.
