Wishful Thinking by Gabbie S Duran Blog Tour: Review & Giveaway

Wishful Thinking Synopsis

Lexie has one goal in life: to grant one last wish for each of her patients. There isn’t a request she will deny, and has yet to fail to deliver a promise. That is, until the day she goes in search of the infamous rock star Kaleb Knight, who can’t care less about her life’s ambition, or the children she is determined to help.

Kaleb has his own dark secrets. He lives each day as if it’s his last, and refuses to spare a moment of his time to play the part of a knight in shining armor—especially for someone like Lexie . . . or so he thought. Now, his head and heart are at war, and his soul is screaming she is exactly what he needs.

Will Lexie be the only one that can save him in the end? Or will he instead succumb to the darkness threatening to consume him?

Kim's Review
4.5 Stars!

Lexie is known as the wish maker at the hospital she works at.  Her goal is to make the last wish of her patients comes true.  It’s a tall order to fill but somehow she seems to come through every time.  Her latest request has become quite a challenge when she tracks down Rocker Kaleb Knight, Lead singer of Dragon Knight to convince him to meet with her patients.
Just when she thinks this is the one wish she can’t grant Kaleb shows up.  Will it all be for nothing or can they save the one thing the both desperately want?

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Lexie had a twin who died when they were only fourteen.  That lost has shaped Lexie’s world and put her on the track of grant last wishes for her patients in the pediatric oncology department.  Lost is something Lexie has become all too familiar with but she gets through knowing that she was able to grant them their one wish.
When her patient Ben needed more treatment that he doesn’t want to go through she comes up with a way to convince him to do it by this time it all depends on the help of Kaleb Knight.  When things don’t go according to plan Lexie begins to wonder why she does what she does.

This is the first book in The Dragon Knights series and boy did it pull me in.  This book was an emotional roller coaster as we got an up close glimpse of how the life of an oncology nurse’s work life is.  This book pull at my heart string as each patient Lexie cared for either got to go home or worse, died.  I was hard to read some of the book as longing a child is never easy no matter what the reason for the loss.  It gave me a new appreciation for nurses who live this life.  The only down side to the book was Kaleb’s story.  It was all but predictable as to why he didn’t want to visit a sick child but it was well written.  The choices and what was to come was not so predictable.  I couldn’t help but jump on the Lexie and Kaleb band wagon like Ben did.  As more of Lexie’s story as a child comes out and how she is having her own difficulties you get to see just how well matched these two are.
The review may only read as a 4 star read but it’s a definite 4.5 stars.  It was a great start to the series and has me looking for to the next book for the band Dragon Knights.
